The sun-soaked greens of Florida welcomed the UNI women’s golf team as they launched into their 2024-25 spring season. Competing in the Rust Buster Match Play at the spectacular Kings Ridge Golf Club, hosted by Murray State, the Panthers faced a mix of challenges and triumphs.
Round One: A Tough Start Against Ball State
Unfortunately, the first round didn’t quite go as planned. The Panthers collided with Ball State and ended up on the losing side of a 4.5-1.5 scoreline. It was certainly a tough match for the team. The only bright spot came from Anna Nacos, who secured a notable victory, besting Sophie Korthujis 2&1 with a solid score of 79 (+10) over 17 holes.
Holding her own, Anna Jensen showed impressive skill, managing to tie her match against JJ Gregston, finishing with a remarkable +2 (74), which was the best round for any Panther in this match. However, not all matches ended on a high note; Victoria Hualde faced difficulties against Sarah Gallagher, conceding her match 6&5 after completing just 13 holes with a score of +7 (60).
